acutely aware that she’s DIFFERENT, a lesson to be learned at a young age ; now in tune with countless mysteries of the world. lucent optics w i d e && lacking the blindness that the populace held so dearly to account for their MORAL world. a skirted scoff, pursing of full brims at the other’s seemingly recklessness — she’s apprehensive, acknowledges the need to be c a r e f u l with her power for it came at a great cost. ❛ i don’t think you scaring the living hell out of them is the way to do it, ❜ a callous honesty to uttered prose, never one to hold back on what she deems a necessity to be stated. buxom frame, drenched from unrelenting waters, rests STAGNANT. does not come any closer for she’s entirely unaware of who the other was, what he could do. ❛ unfortunately for you, all my tricks are up my sleeve. nothin’ to s h o w you, sorry to disappoint. ❜
he doesn’t dignify her words with an answer. instead, flames continue to lick at the grass around him, embers of amber and yellow alike flickering between them ; she is an enigma. there’s something about her, something that has elwood distrusting – something that certainly makes him think she’s LYING. he appreciates her honesty ; if elwood knew what appreciating something required. standing, the boy cocks his head to the side, eyes flashing crimson before the flames disappear once more than the duo are plunged into darkness, his LAUGHTER the only sound filling the void between them. all my tricks are up my sleeve. tutting, elwood spreads his arms wide, before his lips pull up into the brightest of smiles. ❛ … – – well, now that’s just no fun. ❜
there’s something about him that’s so, entirely uncharacteristic of him. he’s calm, he isn’t angry, he’s just walking around with his heart on his shoulder. heart ache courses through him, his heart beats loud, pulse throbbing at his throat ; when he swallows, he has to force himself, and when he gives him no initial answer other than sitting down next to him.. ❝ i don’t– really have anything to say. i just don’t– know where else to go. ❞ he’s in shock. but he manages to look down at elwood’s hand, bringing his own up to offer a friendly flame, one that’s an attempt at the shape of a flower.
something about his demeanour prevents him from immediately setting the boy alight ( it took more self preservation than he’d like to admit, truly. ) watching him closely, elwood rolls his eyes. ❛ by all means, make yourself at home. ❜ he isn’t angry, not anymore, but he is exhausted. he’d managed to resign himself to the fact that he wouldn’t be seeing brian again, but of course, nothing seems to go to plan in elwood’s life. he reignites the flame, watching brian’s closely before his own flame leaps from his hand to crush brian’s flower. nobody said he wasn’t bitter. ❛ … – what’s happened? ❜
he’s idly sitting with his legs folded, running his hands across the blades of grass surrounding him. he’s distracted, that much is clear, but there’s something else bothering him too – flames lick at his fingers as he watches closely, watching his creation dance around his digits, flashes of orange and red and yellow alike. it’s only when a shadow falls over him that he looks up, his initial reaction of anger causing the flame to lash out, climbing in height before elwood reels it in. offering a sickly sweet smile, elwood turns to brian.
❛… – and what could you possibly have to say to me, this time? ❜

“what the FUCK is happening!?” he doesn’t mean to swear, but it’s only natural for him to be - for lack of a better word - surprised that he suddenly holds the capability to not only hold fire, but create it too. lily looks up at him with a gasp, more surprised by the profanity than the spark his hand had created. “i’m sorry, baby - can you go in there with evan please…check the other’s are alright?” she nods her head and skips to the other room without a word whilst lucas shakes it away; looking over at elwood with a look of complete and utter disbelief. “what did you do!?” because of course, it’s his power so he must in one way or another know what was going on.
“ lucas, don’t swear in front of the —- what the fuck are you doing? ” he’s half amused and half confused, because true to his own words, what he fuck is going on? elwood’s eyes widen in response, flickering across the flame leaving lucas’ fingers ; and he tries to channel his own, but the bubbly static usually coursing through his blood isn’t there. “ you’ve taken my powers! why is that my fault? ” he watches idly as lily skips into the other room, momentarily displaced at how adorable she is, biting back a smile before looking back at him. he pauses, inhaling sharply before running a hand through his curls. “ i’m sure there’s a perfectly logical explana –” the boy cuts off, suddenly freezing, before he scrunches his eyes shut and sneezes ; but it’s not the sneeze that ( literally ) throws him off guard, it’s the sudden appearance of two large ; pristinely white wings sprouting from his back, which were definitely not there before. it sends him flying back, throwing him backwards over the kitchen table before he stumblesback to his feet, looking over his shoulder. it’s like a dog chasing its tail ; the wings causing more and more destruction as he moves. “ you have got to be kidding me. ”
“i just do what i want and since you aren’t a fan of that i figured you’d poke your grumpy head around,” she watches as the man she had just, well, murdered engulf in flames the small ghost can’t help but smile while tucking away the knife she used to slit his through into a band around her thigh. “it’s elouise, next time you get angry at least you’ll know who you’re mad at.”
“ so it was deliberate. honestly, love, next time ; come find me. save us the hassle. ” his gaze flicks back to the ashes with a smirk, shaking his head in amusement - she’s certainly something else, though how he feels about that he doesn’t know. elouise. he stores the information before clicking his tongue against his teeth, hands shoved into his back pockets. “ how proper. since you’re so intent on getting my attention ; did you take the liberty to find out my name, too? ”
