kai is in a mood. the sort of mood when he can’t sit still, and the sort of mood when he’s bored, and the sort of mood when he has to make sure everyone knows about it. currently, he’s got his tongue poked out in thought, stood as he is with his hands on his hips, and his gaze focused collectively on colton and elwood. he’s deliberating something, that much is obvious, though whatever that happens to be remains temporarily unclear. it’s rare that he’s quiet for this long; they shouldn’t take the blessed silence for granted, that’s for sure.
after a few more beats, he’s circling about towards the nearest window, hands still firmly on his hips, and his shoulders squared for an almost comical stance. he does not look as big as he thinks with his chest all puffed out. “i have a preposition for you both.” he means proposition, of course.
this whole concept is so weird for colt. not just the fact that the couch he’s sitting on is actually part of an entire set, not just something that was sat on the side of the road; free to a good home. more so it’s the people he’s with. the fact that they seek out his company no matter how gruff he is. the fact that they actually seem to C A R E about his well being; his happiness ── it’s more foreign to him than the fact that they call pretty much everything a jumper. what’s even stranger is the realization that he thinks he likes it. it’s all to much and he’s taken to staring out the windows, occasionally bringing his beer to his lips instead of joining in on the banter.
there’s a certain dread in him when kai speaks loudly enough that it’s clear he’s meant to be paying attention. the words are clearly intended to be bright, to strike joy into his heart and have him skipping around the room in anticipation. oh what has kai come up with now? maybe it’s a fun little game, an ADVENTURE. but for someone like colt they only ring ominous. he’ll remain silent for now. speaking only when necessary; instead saying volumes with a pair of cool blues that turn towards the ruddy male, the smallest of compromises.

there’s a lazy undertone to the way his eyes track kai’s figure, a single brow raised in curiosity. truth be told, even he cannot predict what the boy is possibly about to offer them, and it’s something that bothers him more than he’d like to admit – not being in the know is something elwood actively attempts to avoid. nonetheless, his disinterest soon fades as he makes an aborted effort to correct kai’s terminology, quickly sealing his mouth shut. never one to easily make friends, even elwood cannot deny the opportunity he’s been presented with them both – they form an unlikely trio, he thinks, and he can’t help but smirk idly.
❛ … do continue. ❜ there’s a lazy drawl to his voice but do not mistake it for disinterest. it is a rare occurrence for elwood to outright portray what he’s truly feeling ( without the help of liquor running through his veins, anyway ) but it’s his eyes that give him away. the bright, fleeting gleam of curiosity flashes and disappears just as quickly, but he remains characteristically silent otherwise, watching him.
