         _{‘ too old ? ‘  in a moment of pure disgust he scrunches up his nose and regards his company with somewhat of a dirty look. he plays it off with a little bit of laughter, though, pulling a bright orange packet from his bag and ripping the clear plastic open.  ‘ you’re never too old for halloween. well, okay that’s not true. but you look pretty young. you could still do halloween stuff. want one ? ‘ offering out one of the sugar coated pumpkin shaped marshmallows, he offers a sweet smile, shifting in his seat slightly.} 

               _{at the look of disgust elwood morphs his expression into something resembling a challenge, raising a single brow. for a moment, he almost dares the boy to speak out of turn, but his anger quickly simmers as promptly as it arrived. it’s not so much against the boy, per say – he’s been having a rough week. looking down at the offered sweets, elwood shakes his head, nose scrunching slightly as emerald eyes flicker across the flecks of sugar. to soften the blow of his previous expression, his lips twitch into a faint smile. ❛  … i appreciate the offer, but no thank you .. m’twenty-two –  ❜  at least he thinks he is. he can’t remember the last time he celebrated his birthday, so it could give or take a year either side.  ❛  i carve pumpkins with my children, but that’s the extent of what i can handle.  ❜}
