* - he can’t express how warm it makes him feel that elwood seems happy to see him. not only does he remember siah, but elwood’s smiling ––– that’s more than siah had expected by a long shot. he knows he’s changed, quite a bit at that … and siah can’t really decide whether he’s changed for better or for worse, but regardless, he’s recognized. and on the topic of changing, in their mere seconds of interaction, siah can tell that elwood has done his own fair share of changing as well. they’ve both grown up, and evidently, any childish bitterness that may have occurred in the past appears to be left behind.
‘ can’t say i didn’t try, i guess. if you listen closely, you can hear m’heart shattering. cool, huh ? you did that, elwood ….. ‘ he’s teasing, of course, and attempts to make it apparent by lifting his hand to push elwood’s shoulder gently.
‘ but … for the record, i missed you. or whatever .. ‘
it’s strange because, looking at him now, no matter how long it’s been since they’ve seen one another elwood can see just why siah was his best friend – and regardless if at one point he wanted them to be more, as it stands, he’s fully recognised that they’ve both put that behind them. elwood has never been one to dwell, and he certainly doesn’t intend to start now. at the push to his shoulder, his smirk transitions into a laugh, shaking his curls before he’s pushing them back with his fingers, his smile seemingly fixed. he can’t express how thankful he is that the air between them isn’t awkward ; but he’s more than ready to welcome a fresh start, at least.
❛ – … i tend to have that affect on people, so m’pleased to see you’re not exempt from that rule. truly, i’m sure your heart bleeds. ❜ raising a brow, elwood tilts his head to the side, curious.
❛ of course you missed me, it’s me. everyone does. are you going to hug me now? ❜
